Summary

The campaign aims to train 100 women as solar technicians and entrepreneurs who will establish 20 green energy centers.

Challenge

Imagine a world where the setting sun plunges entire communities into darkness, hindering education, limiting economic opportunities, and posing health risks. This is the daily reality for many families in the crisis-affected regions of Northwest Cameroon

In the Northwest region of Cameroon, ongoing crises have left many communities without reliable access to electricity. Families rely on inefficient and polluting energy sources like kerosene lamps, wood fuel, and candles. This dependence not only hampers effectiveness and safety but also contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. Women bear the financial burden of charging phones, while children struggle to study by candlelight, highlighting the urgent need for accessible and sustainable energy solutions.

Solution

At Hope for a Better Future (H4BF), we envision a brighter future powered by clean, sustainable energy. Our campaign, "Solar Solutions for 100 Crisis-Affected Women in Northwest Cameroon," aims to empower women by training them as solar technicians and entrepreneurs, transforming their communities with the power of the sun.

H4BF is committed to addressing this energy poverty by empowering both women and youths. Our initiative will train 100 women from the community as solar technicians and entrepreneurs. These women will establish 20 green energy centers (COOL centers), each managed by a team of five women. These centers will provide durable solar lamps, clean cookstoves, and solar phone charging stations, fostering leadership and entrepreneurship among women and young people, while promoting environmental sustainability.

Impact

By supporting this campaign, you will help us:

  • Provide Clean Energy Solutions: Each COOL center will distribute durable solar lamps, clean cookstoves, and offer solar phone charging stations, significantly improving the quality of life for community members.
  • Empower Women: Training women as solar technicians and entrepreneurs will not only provide them with valuable skills but also create economic opportunities, promoting gender equality and financial independence.
  • Promote Sustainable Development: Utilizing clean energy solutions reduces reliance on polluting energy sources, contributing to environmental sustainability and combating climate change.
