Summary

The crowdfunding campaign aims to provide 2,800 students (1,400 women and 1,400 men) with access to educational materials in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, and English Language created using modern technologies and delivered through social media channels.

Challenge

The ongoing crisis in Yemen, which has persisted for over nine years, has led to a severe deterioration in the educational system, resulting in frequent disruptions to learning. More than 6 million students have experienced interruptions in their education. UNICEF also reports that 1.4 million children working in Yemen are being deprived of their basic rights, and approximately 2.7 million Yemeni children are not enrolled in schools. Teachers have gone unpaid for nearly 8 years, further exacerbating the crisis. This situation has forced a rapid exodus and internal migration within Yemen, with students being compelled to leave their homes and seek refuge in other parts of the country, leading to even more disruptions in their access to education.

The displacement of children has also caused a significant number of psychological traumas among students, teachers, and guardians, severely affecting their ability to teach and learn. Access to psychological support is limited, making it challenging for individuals to cope with the stress and anxiety resulting from these educational challenges.

The ongoing situation in Yemen has left millions of male and female students facing the consequences of this disrupted educational process. The digital transformation in education has been a source of disappointment for them, as millions of students, both male and female, feel let down by the lack of access to educational resources in Yemen. The provision of educational materials through online platforms, which could enable students to learn from anywhere within Yemen, has faced obstacles. This situation has compounded the hardships faced by the people in the region.

Solution

The campaign aims to raise $20,500 to finance the purchase of innovative digital tools and resources and the training of a team of qualified teachers. This initiative aims to improve the way teachers teach and students learn.

Many students face challenges in comprehending practical materials, and the response from teachers may be inadequate. Moreover, educators may lack practical teaching methods, interest, and passion for the educational process. The modern and constantly evolving technological landscape requires new approaches to education that align with global technology trends. The SELY project seeks to address the issues related to teacher-student interaction in the context of technology, by developing an educational program and creating smart electronic content to facilitate the use of technology in the educational process.

The program primarily targets elementary school students who are technologically savvy and eager to learn about modern technology. This project aims to help them understand and utilize essential scientific materials in subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English, and Mathematics.

The digital transformation project's main focus is to establish a platform that provides easy access to practical learning materials. These advanced technologies will enable teachers to deliver high-quality education, offer real-time feedback, and efficiently monitor student progress.
