Challenge

Nagekeo is one of the regencies in East Nusa Tenggara known for its captivating scenic views, offering significant tourism potential. The region boasts several tourism villages, including Kawa, Ngegedhawe, Wodomia, and Tutubadha Traditional Village, which have the potential to become popular tourist destinations.

However, these villages currently face challenges in accessing clean water resources. The primary issues revolve around the low quality and insufficient quantity of clean water. In Nagekeo Regency, it is the women and children who bear the responsibility of obtaining clean water for their families. This often involves carrying liters of water through risky journeys, sacrificing both time and safety.

Moreover, the prevalence of stunting remains a pressing issue in Nagekeo, particularly when the quality and quantity of clean water are compromised. According to data from the Local Public Health Institute (Dinas Kesehatan) in Nagekeo Regency (2020), the incidence of stunting among toddlers (0-5 years old) in these four villages ranges from 5% to 26%.

Solution

Donations from this campaign will be utilized to facilitate access to clean water for four remote villages. The funds will support water drilling, piping, and construction in the villages, including necessary research and health and safety checks.

Following these essential steps, we will establish a mentoring and monitoring program empowering locals to maintain and manage their own access to clean water.
