Ongoing Offline: The campaign is currently ongoing offline and, thus still in the process of collecting funds.

Summary

The campaign aims to support farmers by introducing high-yield seeds, advanced fertilizers, effective pesticides, and a new processing unit to boost yields, to enhance market efficiency.

Challenge

In 18,000 households in northern Guinea, food insecurity presents a significant challenge. The population lacks the means to have three meals a day due to low agricultural productivity, outdated seed varieties that would allow for larger crops with less effort, soil degradation, and pressure on land resources. Additionally, the population relies heavily on cereals like maize and rice, which are locally cultivated. Households that do not rely on agriculture for their income struggle when market prices rise unexpectedly.

Solution

The introduction of new high-yield seed varieties, advanced fertilizers, and effective pesticides, along with the installation of a state-of-the-art processing and packaging unit for maize and its by-products, will significantly alleviate the challenges faced by farmers. These innovations will enhance crop yields, improve pest and disease management, and streamline post-harvest processes. As a result, farmers will market their produce more efficiently, reduce losses, and secure better prices, ultimately boosting their incomes and improving their livelihoods.
