Campaign Status
New Campaign - Ongoing Online: The campaigns have been recently launched and, thus still in the process of collecting funds.
Summary
The crowdfunding campaign aims to establish a training center in the Al-Baqaa refugee camp, focusing on providing embroidery and sewing lessons to 400 women to generate income for their families.
Challenge
Since the establishment of the Threads Initiative in 2016, the organization has aspired to have a headquarters for the initiative in Al-Baqaa Camp, given its status as one of the largest camps in the region. Now, after securing the headquarters through renting, the restoration process is set to begin, ensuring it becomes suitable for use. This initiative aims to overcome various obstacles and challenges, including:
- Difficulties in delivering work to women on foot.
- Limited production capacity due to challenges in distributing work and a small team of women. The absence of regular training programs for women to join the team necessitates several weeks of training to ensure the quality of the products they embroider.
Solution
Having a dedicated headquarters for the initiative will yield the following solutions:
- The specific headquarters, situated in the heart of the camp, facilitates proximity to the majority of women leading the project.
- Providing an official space for women to convene, coordinate work, and manage distribution and delivery.
- The ability to store materials, purchase larger quantities of fabric and raw materials, and benefit from cost savings.
- Offering free embroidery and sewing training to more women, expanding the team's size and production capacity. This also enables collaboration with companies to secure gifts in larger quantities and at a faster pace.
- Economic, social, and cultural empowerment of women in the camp.
- Raising awareness among women through diverse training programs, including art, embroidery, leadership, life skills, communication, and teamwork.
- Promoting heritage values in future generations and strengthening the connection between segments of Jordanian society through collaborative efforts.
