Summary
The campaign aims to provide school kits for approximately 1,300 students in the upcoming academic year, construct a 4-class building with tables and benches for a school in one of the villages, drill two boreholes for clean water access, and train 1,000 local farmers in modern agriculture techniques.
Challenge
Access to clean drinking water and education are essential for the well-being and development of any community. Recognizing this, the Togolese government has undertaken numerous projects to ensure widespread availability of this vital resource and extend preschool coverage in rural and economically disadvantaged areas. Despite these commendable initiatives, there are still challenges to overcome in certain localities, indicating that there is work to be done to improve the current situation.
Solution
In the areas in which the CSO operates, residents rely on river water for daily needs, schools lack proper infrastructure, and farmers face limitations in production due to inadequate equipment, lack of water sources, and outdated farming practices.
With this project, WWRD aims to create a lasting positive impact in these rural villages through agricultural and rural development. The initiative includes providing school kits for approximately 1,300 students in the upcoming academic year, constructing a 4-class building with tables and benches for a school in one of the villages, drilling two boreholes for clean water access, and training 1,000 local farmers in modern agriculture techniques.
Additionally, agricultural machines will be provided to enhance farming services in these villages. The ultimate goal of these initiatives is to enhance the quality of life for the local population, build community resilience, and promote sustainable development. The project directly contributes to the economic development of impoverished rural communities by addressing crucial aspects such as clean water, education, agriculture, and community strengthening with the aim of achieving a basic income.
Furthermore, the project seeks to mobilize civil society, media professionals, and online youth communities to combat precarious living conditions in this rural area, fostering collective efforts to improve the well-being of the community.
