Summary

The campaign aims to provide elementary teachers from the regions of Azerbaijan with school supplies, enabling them to create brighter, more interesting, interactive, and engaging lessons.

Challenge

At 'Ishiq' ('Light'), we believe that the love for learning begins in primary/elementary school. How can one love a place that is dull, grey, and where nothing fun happens?

It has been proven that the physical environment affects our emotions and mood. Numerous research studies have also shown that the emotions children experience in the classroom have a significant influence on their learning effectiveness.

Very often, it happens that due to a lack of supplies, some schools, especially those outside of the capital city of Baku, cannot create a colorful, bright, positive learning environment. Spending many hours in a dull, grey classroom does not inspire children, who may gradually come to the conclusion that learning is not enjoyable and fun.

Solution

Our crowdfunding campaign aims to equip elementary school teachers from the regions of Azerbaijan with school supplies to help them make their classrooms and lessons brighter, and thus more interesting, interactive, and engaging. While it would be ideal to renovate the classes, unfortunately, this will not be possible. So, our campaign will strive to simply 'add some colors' to the learning process – thus the campaign name 'Add Colors to the Lesson!' ('Dərsə rəng qat!').

The crowdfunding campaign is part of the project our organization has designed to enhance the capacity of regional teachers. The first phase of the project involves training 20 elementary school teachers from the regions in project-based learning, interactive teaching techniques, creativity, and other related topics. While, unfortunately, we cannot alter the physical space (renovate the classrooms), we plan to introduce vibrant supplies and innovative teaching approaches to add colors to both the environment and the teaching process. This transformation aims to turn mundane lessons into an interesting and engaging experience. For accountability, we will visit specific schools, and some teachers will be requested to share photos of their activities within the classroom.

For the project's implementation, the Saatli region has been chosen. This selection is based on its status as one of the underprivileged regions despite its proximity to the capital city, especially in terms of available resources.

The population of Saatli, as of January 1, 2022, is approximately 111,000 people, and the district is home to 49 schools. It is anticipated that additional regions may be included in the campaign's scope later. The selection criteria for these regions and schools depend on the willingness of teachers to enhance their teaching methods and create more vibrant and engaging classrooms for students. The expenses for the initial phase of the project will be covered by our organization.

The second phase of the project involves distributing the ToolBox for Inclusive Education. This toolbox comprises colored paper, crayons, glue, tape, scissors, markers, pencils, containers for storage and organization, small balls, arts and crafts supplies, and various other items.
