ADRO has been engaged in humanitarian activities to eradicate poverty, recover communities’ livelihoods and enhance sustainable development for the last 26 years in Somalia. Having a vast network of partners such as UN and other international partners, the organization has successfully implemented both emergency and development projects to contribute to Somalia’s stabilization and peace-building pillar of the new Deal pact. ADRO's extensive presence in the rural areas and strong ties with the community have enabled access to the most hostile and insecure areas so that aid reaches the most vulnerable where ever he/she might be present.
ADRO is registered with the Federal Government of Somalia as well as the States. It has its main office in Mogadishu with several fully equipped field offices in Beletweyne, Balcad, Marka, Bulo Burto, Barawe, Hudur/Tiyeglow, Baidoa, and Afgoye districts managed by the representative project teams from the locality, transport vehicles in all stations for field work and operation budget cost to deliver projects. ADRO has in the past implemented Agriculture inputs distribution, unconditional cash transfers, cash for Work, and emergency livestock programs with FAO, UNOCHA, UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, OXFAM, Concern worldwide, and CARE Somalia in various districts in South Central Somalia and Galmudug. Therefore, over the past 26 years, ADRO has developed its staff capacity to over 36 as well as financial management and capacity to implement projects.
In Hudur district, ADRO implemented Agric input distribution and Rehabilitation of water catchment areas projects funded by FAO as well as rehabilitation and Qurbani programme in Kismayo and Mogadishu respectively. ADRO has a close working strategy with local communities and their political class in this district as well all other districts in South Central Somalia and Somaliland to partake in project decisions in all operation bases and enterprises for standard service and accountability. We involve the community members and authorities in project leadership where committees’ unit exists for project decisions making and accountability to beneficiaries. Our Mainstream employees as well, are local in charge of actual project implementation and mobilization with their authorities. We have made it part of our operational values to favor locals in employment opportunities over non-locals and only employ outsiders in skilled needs.
To avoid poor project implementation or fraud, ADRO projects are managed by competent staff. The finance department is headed by an experienced staff who has an advanced degree in Accountancy with a Professional capacity.
