For three months (September to November 2021), the pan-African think-tank Legs-Africa initiated, in partnership with the Heinrich Böll Foundation-Senegal, a series of panels on the responsible and sustainable governance of oil and gas in Senegal.

These activities brought together leading experts and civil society organizations contributing to the prospective reflection on the economic and ecological choices of Senegal, on the sidelines of COP26. During these panels, CSOs made recommendations ranging from a position on strategies to adopt for responsible, efficient and sustainable governance given the impact of covid-19 and the energy transition.

As such, the results of this project are shared and discussed among stakeholders; during the workshop to share the contributions of civil society organizations on the responsible and ecological governance of oil and gas in Senegal, at the Maison de la Presse, Thursday, November 25, 2021. In doing so, a collective statement of civil society organizations is issued to the press at the end of the workshop which in substance, calls on the State of Senegal. The initiating organizations are: LEGS-Africa, Action for Environmental Justice (AJE), Women, Children, Environment (FEE), Green Senegal, Lead Senegal, Alliance of Actors and Trades of Energy in Senegal (AMES), Lights, Synergy and Development (LSD).
