Ongoing Offline: The campaign is currently ongoing offline and, thus still in the process of collecting funds.
Summary
The campaign aims to empower 1,000 disabled individuals by providing essential financial support during the pandemic.
Challenge
The current coronavirus outbreak has altered the lives of millions of families, including that of Pak Neighbor. Since childhood, he has battled with polio, a condition that caused his legs to shrink and made walking difficult.
For his daily livelihood, Pak Jiran works as a bamboo weaver, crafting besek or mats that are sold for Rp. 100,000 per sheet. However, since the onset of the pandemic, buyers have become scarce, causing him to lose his sole source of income. He is currently grappling with meeting his children's school fees and daily necessities.
Persisting with work outside the home, amidst the risk of virus exposure, is challenging. Numerous informal workers find themselves without a choice, compelled to continue working in order to provide for their families anxiously waiting at home.
These families include relatives of pedicab drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, public transportation workers, hawkers, and many other service providers.
Solution
In our collective effort to make a positive impact, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing hardships. By setting aside a small amount of resources, we can contribute to the creation of food packages and provide essential business capital.
The financial support provided through this campaign aims to alleviate the immediate burdens these individuals may be facing, fostering a sense of empowerment and resilience within the disabled community.
