Summary

The campaign aims to secure employment for 1,800 women residing in the shelter, offering them valuable chances to acquire skills in the tailoring profession.

Challenge

Since May 2013, the 'Rehabilitation and Reintegration Center and Shelter for Victims of Violence' has been operating under the 'Tamas' Regional Development Public Union, initiated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, and with technical support from the American Development Agency and the International Organization for Migration.

The main purpose of the center is to provide regular assistance, safe shelter, and psychological and legal support to individuals who are victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, as well as those from socially risky families, undocumented individuals, and those suffering from domestic violence.

From January to December 2022, a total of 1,193 individuals benefited from the center and shelter's activities.

The shelter has been operating in rented space for over 10 years. Currently, the conditions at the shelter's location are unsatisfactory.

It stands as the sole shelter in the region, serving as the only refuge for vulnerable women and children.

The lack of sustainable funding, the location of the shelter in a rented space, and the unsatisfactory conditions directly affect the quality of social services provided in the shelter.

Solution

This campaign aims to enhance the quality of social services provided in the shelter and facilitate their effective reintegration into society.

This could be accomplished by securing employment opportunities for women residing in the shelter, offering them valuable chances to acquire skills in the tailoring profession. This initiative not only addresses immediate economic needs but also serves as a stepping stone for their personal and professional development. By offering employment opportunities, these women can actively engage in the tailoring profession.

This involvement provides a platform for skill acquisition, allowing them to develop expertise and proficiency in tailoring. This skill development, in turn, contributes to their empowerment, fostering a sense of independence and self-sufficiency. Moreover, the employment aspect goes beyond mere financial support. It plays a crucial role in building confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of purpose among the women.

Through meaningful work in the tailoring profession, they not only gain practical skills but also experience personal and professional growth, enhancing their overall well-being.
