Campaign Status
Ongoing Offline: The campaign is currently ongoing offline and, thus still in the process of collecting funds.
Summary
The campaign aims to provide forest bags to children aged 7-11 and teach them fundamental knowledge and understanding of forest processes in nature during forest area visits.
Challenge
This campaign seeks to address a significant barrier faced by children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, which is their limited access to nature education opportunities. Many children are unable to visit forest areas due to financial constraints, missing out on valuable learning experiences and interactions with the natural environment. Moreover, even if they have the desire to engage in forest activities, they may lack the necessary resources or materials to do so.
Solution
The Turkish Foundation for Environmental Education (TÜRÇEV) was established in 1993 under the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism with the aim of being able to start the International Blue Flag Program in our country. Following its establishment, TÜRÇEV initiated the Blue Flag Program, and under the umbrella of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), it started implementing Eco-Schools and Young Environmental Spokespersons in 1995, and Forests in Schools Programs in our country in 2004.
In 2011, the International Green Key Award Program was also initiated in our country. It has been successfully conducting its activities for 30 years.
With this campaign, we aim to provide forest bags to children aged 7-11, teaching fundamental knowledge and understanding of forest processes in nature during forest area visits will be facilitated, ensuring that every child has equal opportunities to receive environmental education.
By providing support in terms of environmental education, this initiative aims to bridge these gaps. It not only seeks to enable children to access forest areas for educational purposes but also endeavors to ensure that they have the tools and materials needed to fully participate in forest-related activities. This may include providing transportation to forest sites, supplying educational materials such as books and field guides, or offering equipment for outdoor exploration and learning.
By addressing these challenges, this initiative not only promotes environmental education but also strives to promote equity and inclusivity in access to nature-based learning experiences. It recognizes that every child deserves the opportunity to connect with and learn from the natural world, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Ultimately, by empowering children with the knowledge and resources to explore and appreciate nature, this initiative aims to foster a deeper sense of environmental stewardship and appreciation for the world around them.
