Summary
The campaign aims to enhance the health conditions of 92 pregnant and non-pregnant refugee and displaced women, 285 children aged 5 to 14 and taking care of 377 sick women and children.
Challenge
Since the start of the Sahel crisis, the Savanes region in northern Togo has experienced significant migration. By May 30, 2023, the region had received over 41,000 displaced individuals, with 8,648 in the Tône prefecture alone. This group consists of 1,102 men, 1,841 women, and 5,705 children. This delicate situation disrupts community harmony, and social cohesion, and leaves women, young people, and children vulnerable in terms of their health.
Solution
SF2D-S, an organization dedicated to supporting women and girls' development, started this project to help and educate people about living together peacefully. The goal is to help women improve their health and address malnutrition in children. The main aim is to enhance the health conditions of 92 pregnant and non-pregnant refugee and displaced women and 285 children aged 5 to 14 in the Tône area.
This includes taking care of 377 sick women and children, providing 92 health kits with items like soap, sanitary towels, clothes, underwear, toilet paper, buckets, and food for displaced women and refugees. The project also aims to raise awareness among 400 people in the Natigou, Poissongui, Toaga, Sanfatoute, and Nioukperma cantons about social cohesion and peace.
Project Components:
- Identify and inform 200 people in the 5 cantons about social cohesion and living together peacefully.
- Educate people in the targeted cantons on hygiene and sanitation practices for maintaining peace.
- Support children's nutrition by teaching displaced and vulnerable mothers from host families how to process enriched flour and soy milk.
- Provide health care to 377 pregnant and non-pregnant women and children.
- Mobilize and distribute 92 health kits.
Duration and Scope of the Project:
The project will last 12 months, covering the cantons of Natigou, Poissongui, Toaga, Sanfatoute, and Nioukperma in the Tône prefecture in northern Togo.
