Summary

The campaign aims to empower 400 displaced women and 200 displaced girls with income generation training, creating an indirect benefit for 4,200 individuals, including 2,400 children.

Challenge

Since 2015, Burkina has been dealing with an unprecedented security crisis characterized by deadly attacks on civilian and military populations carried out by armed terrorist groups. This crisis has resulted in a severe decline in food and nutritional security, as well as in the livelihoods of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Currently, IDPs, particularly women with dependent children, find themselves in precarious and economically dire circumstances.

They have left everything behind, as they were unable to take belongings with them when fleeing the abuses of armed terrorist groups. With no economic activities, many of these displaced women, who have lost their husbands to armed groups, must bear the financial burdens of their households, including health expenses, food costs, and their children's education.

Those who fled their homeland were engaged in socio-professional and income-generating activities, which constituted their primary means of subsistence. These populations in the host areas are now facing significant challenges as their means of subsistence and economic situations have significantly deteriorated. They lack the equipment, startup capital, and skills required to initiate income-generating activities quickly.

Solution

Raise funding to alleviate the hardship and socio-economic vulnerability of 600 internally displaced women and girls who have fled from armed terrorist groups' atrocities. The project involves assisting these beneficiaries in participating in income-generating activities, providing swift successes, and delivering professional training.

This initiative will be carried out in the Centre-Est region, directly benefiting 600 internally displaced women and girls. Additionally, it will indirectly positively impact 600 households, encompassing 2,400 children.
