Campaign Completed: The campaign has achieved successful funding, raising $3,100 via offline donations from the Regional Hospital Bamenda and online donations.

Summary

The campaign aims to educate 500 individuals—women, men, and adolescents of reproductive age (15 to 49 years), distribute folic acid to 300 women (one tablet daily for three months before pregnancy), and screen 500 men and women (200 men and 300 women) for cardiovascular risk factors.

Challenge

In Cameroon, reproductive health remains a major public health challenge due to a high maternal mortality rate. According to World Bank data, the maternal mortality rate was estimated at 438 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2020. This high mortality rate is particularly concerning because it affects young mothers. Additionally, adolescents contribute to 28% of maternal mortality in Cameroon.

Solution

The organization’s campaign aims to promote the health of women and children by raising awareness about reproductive health. This awareness campaign will focus on enabling women to properly prepare for their pregnancies, maintain good health before pregnancy, identify and manage medical conditions early, reduce the number of babies born with abnormalities, increase early uptake of antenatal consultations, and ultimately decrease maternal and newborn deaths.

We aim to educate 500 individuals—women, men, and adolescents of reproductive age (15 to 49 years). During the campaign, we will distribute folic acid to 300 women (one tablet daily for three months before pregnancy) and screen 500 men and women (200 men and 300 women) for cardiovascular risk factors.

Our organization, Talk Pregnancy With Dr. Noella, is a non-profit operating in the Northwest since 2020. We focus on improving sexual and reproductive health for adolescents, men, and women, and provide comprehensive pregnancy support for vulnerable women. Our dynamic team of over 40 volunteers from diverse backgrounds has assisted more than 5,000 individuals with their sexual and reproductive health and pregnancy journeys.

We urge you to join and support our campaign today. Every contribution, whether in cash or kind, makes a difference.
