Campaign Status
Ongoing Offline: The campaign is currently ongoing offline and, thus still in the process of collecting funds.
Summary
The campaign aims to create a confidential menstrual cycle calendar for students, ensuring the timely provision of necessary kits and mentoring them in horticulture and business techniques.
Challenge
Recognizing the sacred nature of the girl child and their need for special care, we acknowledge that during menstruation, girls are sometimes forced to miss school because they lack sanitary pads or other necessary items to attend classes. Consequently, they may be absent from school for a period ranging from three (3) to seven (7) days each month, disrupting their academic progress. This demoralizing cycle leads to poor habits and may result in dropping out of school altogether, further victimizing these young women.
Solution
The project aims to increase girls' school attendance rates, improve students' learning conditions by providing school supplies, and impart knowledge in agriculture to help generate income. Generating Activities (IGAs) to ensure its sustainability. The project will be coordinated by a project manager, assisted by an administrative and financial service manager, and two facilitators who will conduct activities at Josephine Bakita High School.
The project staff will have two Haoujue CGL 125 motorcycles at their disposal. The facilitators will establish a menstrual cycle calendar for the students, kept confidentially, to ensure regular monitoring of menstrual cycles and to prepare to provide the necessary kits to those in need on time. In addition to menstrual management, the facilitators, who are knowledgeable in IGAs, will mentor the girls in manual labor (horticulture) and business techniques for optimal management of products from horticulture. Thus, IGAs will ensure the project's sustainability over time.
