Summary

"Her" project aims to reduce violence against women in Taiz Governorate, Yemen, addressing the lack of awareness in society and the inadequate performance of social workers in schools when it comes to psychological support.

Challenge

The "She" project was designed to combat violence against women, often stemming from ignorance and a lack of knowledge among women and girls, particularly regarding various forms of violence that may be inflicted by individuals within the family or community. This exposure can subject them to various dangers, manifesting in both physical and psychological violence, directly or indirectly impacting their roles and making them susceptible to social exclusion. The project addresses this phenomenon by educating secondary school girls about their rights and how to protect themselves from potential violence as they expand their interaction with society beyond the educational stage, safeguarding them against potential harm.

Solution

The project will focus on five high schools, encompassing around 1,500 female students and 30 female teachers, for a duration of six months.

It involves training social workers in schools, conducting psychological support sessions for students, and implementing awareness activities within the schools.
