Campaign Status
Ongoing Offline: The campaign is currently ongoing offline and, thus still in the process of collecting funds.
Summary
The campaign aims to develop a Sign Language Translation system for Azerbaijani Sign Language.
Challenge
There are approximately 3,000 hearing-impaired individuals in Azerbaijan who rely on sign language as their primary mode of communication. However, they often encounter difficulties in accessing information and being understood by the rest of society. Due to weak integration, they face challenges such as limited educational and employment opportunities.
Solution
The 'ESIT' project aims to bridge the communication gap by developing a Sign Language Translation system for Azerbaijani Sign Language. This assistive AI technology will translate sign language videos into text, making the signing of the deaf community in Azerbaijan accessible to anyone. The system utilizes advanced machine learning algorithms for accurate translation. Once the translation system is developed and tested, it can be made available to the public through various platforms, including mobile applications, websites, or dedicated devices for use by both the deaf community and the general population.
Artificial Intelligence can recognize objects in images and learn to automate many tasks that humans can do. Leveraging these technological capabilities, it is possible to develop numerous software tools that make our daily lives easier.
AI can also significantly improve the lives of people with disabilities. Through AI technology, pre-collected sign language videos are trained into a neural network. As a result, it can recognize signs shown to the camera in real-time and instantly convert them into text. This system will be introduced to the public as a modern software product, enabling even those unfamiliar with sign language to immediately understand individuals who communicate using sign language.
