Summary

The campaign aims to provide one month of weaving training to 100 women living in rural areas in Burkina Faso and deliver weaving looms and threads to each of them.

Challenge

Did you know that Burkina Faso is known as the cotton field of Africa? It's one of the countries that meet the cotton needs of the continent and beyond. Moreover, the skilled hands of its people transform this white gold into products. So why shouldn't these talented hands create a permanent source of income for themselves? As the Sadakataşı Association, we embark on a journey to help the women of this country, who have been struggling with years of internal conflict and poverty, to turn their skills into income.

Solution

We are reviving the widespread craft of weaving in the region and supporting women in need through the distribution of weaving looms. Under the campaign initiated with the slogan "Goodness Arrives and Endures Forever," we will provide one month of weaving training to 100 women living in rural areas around the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou. At the end of the training, along with threads, we will deliver weaving looms to each of them. The colorful and soft threads that will transform into various products with the skilled fingers of women will be their sources of income.

This will not only liberate needy women from dependency on external aid to earn their livelihood but also revitalize the local economy. We will embroider the bright future of these women with their skillful hands.

Konfe is just one of the women weaving their future with our project. She lives in a mud-brick house with her child in the Pazani region of Ouagadougou. Without a profession or a source of income, Konfe became a loom owner by attending Sadakataşı's training sessions. Working and weaving every weekday, she earns 20,000 CFA francs (1,030 TL) per month by selling her products. With her earnings, she can afford her child's food, healthcare, and school expenses. Constantly improving herself, Konfe strives to participate in the national traditional clothing project, and it seems that she will succeed with her determination. Thanks to the loom, she now also owns a bicycle. With the bicycle she bought with the income from the products she wove and previously walked everywhere, she can quickly reach her destinations and carry her belongings in the basket. The hope of providing a better future for her child is reflected in every stitch she makes. Her weavings are as vibrant as her dreams.

You too can help dozens of African women like Konfe to weave their own futures with their own hands. Let's come together and weave the future of Burkinabe women.
