DAR LINK - Do All Really Linked

Ongoing campaign

Summary

We are launching a campaign to create a unique platform for deaf people to communicate, to give them access to a full and inclusive social life. Your support can change their future and help them become part of a larger community.

Challenge

Deaf people face many barriers to communication and social integration. Current communication tools do not always take their needs into account, leading to social isolation and limited opportunities.

Shavkat is a young man in his early 30s who was born completely healthy into a well-respected family. However, his life took an unexpected turn in childhood when a specific antibiotic caused significant hearing loss. As a child, Shavkat faced challenges in connecting with his peers. While most children naturally explore and bond with the world around them, Shavkat struggled to join in their games. His father’s joy was immeasurable when he finally saw Shavkat playing with other children—an emotional milestone for a parent yearning to see their child engage and connect.

Communication, a cornerstone of human happiness, has always been a challenge for Shavkat. He attended a school for the deaf, where he developed his education, but his speech remains unclear, often making it difficult for others to understand him. To bridge this gap, Shavkat relies on his phone, using text to explain complex ideas during conversations.

Despite these challenges, Shavkat has built a family and worked in jobs such as a packer and loader. However, the lack of full communication abilities limits his career opportunities. In a world where technology can convert sign language into text or voice, individuals like Shavkat still face barriers without access to such tools. These barriers restrict their ability to achieve their dreams, realize their potential, expand their social networks, or fully engage in hobbies and leisure activities with friends.

Shavkat’s story underscores the importance of inclusive technology and societal support in helping people with hearing loss integrate into society and lead fulfilling lives.
