Saalim Educational Welfare Development Organization Library

SEWDO public library is the brain child of Saalim Khan Khalil, former MNA in his aim of spreading education and making the society a peaceful place and putting an end to any negative vices that have taken hold of the society. Saalim Khan Khalil since his early youth, worked as a social worker and resolved for social upliftment of the society. His services for the society were recognized by the people of Peshawar when at the young age of 28, he defeated the mighty political strong Arbabs of Peshawar and became a symbol for the common man! Ever since, he is committed to the social upliftment of society. Among many of the services rendered by Mr Saalim Khan include the construction of 4 BHUs, one degree college and 8 high schools, all in low literate and background areas. After his tenure of member national assembly, Mr Saalim resolved to public service and endeavored to construct a library with his own meagre resources which eventually became a reality . The library is two story building with an area of around 2500 square feet and has 4 big halls. it also accommodates more than 5000 books and serves to fulfill the role of community. the library is also equipped with good quality furniture and shelves . The library also envisages to improve its computer services as the already computers of the library have become obsolete . It is important to note that the community where the library is located has till date no functional library . On the other hand, the library also offers special room for senior citizens and women. Moreover, it is also the intention of the founder to designate one day a week specifically for women keeping in view the conservative society, many families don't allow their women along with men . However, the smooth and efficient running of a library requires abundant funds and a full time staff.
