Nexus is a consortium of eight Somali NGOs—CPD, GREDO, HAVOYOCO, KAALO, SSWC, SADO, TASCO, and WASDA—and two international partners, Oxfam and Save the Children. Together, these organizations bring over 25 years of collective experience in Somalia and Somaliland, focusing on areas like Protection, Development, Peacebuilding, Health, Women, poverty reduction, Agriculture, Empowerment, Livelihoods, WaSH, and Climate Change.

Nexus redefines civil society leadership by integrating humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding efforts. It promotes local ownership, empowering Somali actors, government, and private sector partners to lead community-driven solutions.

The platform arose from donor challenges to create intermediary funding models for local and national NGOs (LNNGOs) following the World Humanitarian Summit. While tools like the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) have made strides, LNNGOs still receive only a fraction of overall funding. Nexus advocates for localization, equitable funding access, and decision-making power for Somali NGOs, breaking the dominance of UN and INGO-led systems.

Supported by Oxfam and Save the Children, Nexus exemplifies a collaborative, locally-led model to transform the humanitarian system. For more information, visit our website at: nexusom.org
