Nana Maren Association for Charity and Awareness

Established in 2012, Nana Maren Organization is a women-led, community-driven nonprofit dedicated to fostering peace, empowerment, and sustainable development across Libya. Inspired by the legacy of Nana Maren, a wise and respected figure from the Nafusa Mountains, the organization seeks to uphold her values by promoting community stabilization, active participation in democratic processes, and reconciliation efforts.

With its headquarters in Tripoli and branch offices across Libya, including Sebha, Khums, Yefren, and Jadu, Nana Maren operates nationally to support women, youth, and underserved communities. Over the past decade, the organization has collaborated with esteemed international partners, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Search for Common Ground (SFCG), the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), DanChurchAid (DCA), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Through these partnerships, Nana Maren has delivered impactful projects addressing peacebuilding, youth and women’s empowerment, recycling and environment, psychosocial support, and support for internally displaced people (IDPs).

Nana Maren’s mission is to enhance the capacity of marginalized groups, encourage innovation, and foster a culture of peace and dialogue. By implementing programs that empower communities and strengthen civic engagement, the organization remains a leading force in advancing sustainable development and social cohesion in Libya.
