Looking back: What we’ve done in 2023!

As we approach the end of 2023, it’s time for reflection. We're thrilled to share the highlights of a year marked by empowerment and growth. From interactive Crowdfunding Academies and global events to the inspiring journey of our Crowdfunding Champions – our collective efforts have propelled change! Join us in this newsletter as we celebrate a year of impactful strides together.

Connecting the dots with civil society organizations

Currently, the Tadamon platform is positioned as one of the most extensive databases of leading civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member Countries. It maps out over 3800 CSOs, of which 2500+ CSOs from 34 OIC Member Countries are officially verified, with support from UNDP Country Offices and IsDB government representatives, and accessible via the platform.

Tadamon Crowdfunding Academy gears up

The Tadamon Crowdfunding Academy is an interactive training program designed to enhance CSO’s skills and organizational capacity. The aim is to equip them with the expertise needed to plan and execute successful crowdfunding campaigns for project funding mobilization. Presently, the academy has either completed or is in the process of implementing 27 Crowdfunding Academies across 29* countries. Additionally, it has introduced two thematic crowdfunding academies: the General Crowdfunding Academy and the Green Crowdfunding Academy.

We're also planting seeds in five countries – Algeria, Benin, Brunei Darussalam, Cameroon, and Uzbekistan – laying the groundwork for future academies.

Check out the videos featuring some of the best shared moments and experiences from participants from Azerbaijan, Djibouti, and Saudi Arabia during our live training sessions.

Tadamon Grants open call launches

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Tadamon Grants! The call for project proposals is now open until January 5, 2024. We are seeking initiatives that empower communities for sustainable development through innovative and technology-oriented solutions in the following newly eligible countries: Burkina Faso, Comoros, Iraq, Jordan, Niger, Pakistan, State of Palestine, Somalia, and Yemen. One visionary organization per country will be granted up to USD 120,000!

Tadamon travels the world

Throughout the year, we've been on the move, organizing Tadamon National Introductory webinars in nine countries (Azerbaijan, Chad, Djibouti, Guinea, Nigeria, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Togo, and Turkiye) to present Tadamon, its objective and benefits for CSOs.

Not only that, we participated in global events, including the ISFD Poverty Alleviation Forum during the Islamic Development Bank’s (IsDB) Annual Meeting in Jeddah. We were next in Istanbul where we organized a Connecting Innovation Ecosystems and Alternative Finance, a three-day workshop, together with the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic. This workshop brought together participants from UNDP Country Offices spanning Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Central Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East to explore the potential of various innovative financing mechanisms.

In September, we flew to New York for our side event Empowering Civil Society, organized by IsDB, ISFD, UNDP, and OIC at the 78th UN General Assembly. The event, which brought together 200+ participants, including CSOs and partners, emphasized the crucial role of communities in creating context-specific solutions and understanding local challenges.

In November, we also showcased Tadamon's impact at the Cardano Summit 2023 in Dubai and announced our strategic partnership with the Cardano Foundation. This partnership will strengthen our collective presence in OIC Member Countries, and empower, inspire, and connect CSOs in their mission to improve the socio-economic well-being of marginalized communities.

Tadamon Talks – Where ideas blossom

This year, we continued our Tadamon Talks, bringing together brilliant minds to explore the future of healthcare, discuss smart communications, meet our Crowdfunding Champions, and revive green innovation. Watch the engaging discussions on our YouTube channel and follow us on our social media channels and website for upcoming talks.

Entering 2024 with strong partnerships

Our partnerships have expanded, with a new strategic alliance forged with LaunchGood, the largest crowdfunding platform for the Muslim world, to enhance crowdfunding ecosystems around the world. Another important partnership that emerged in 2023 is with the Cardano Foundation to advance blockchain technology for social good. Exciting collaborations are also in the pipeline with AI and crypto/blockchain players like Algorand Foundation, Cashdillo, and Nybl.

As we bid farewell to 2023, our journey of growth is just unfolding! Get ready for a continuation of brilliant innovation and empowerment in 2024. Stay tuned for the next chapter!
