National Microfinance Foundation (NMF) Backround
The National Microfinance Foundation (NMF) is a non-profit organization established in Yemen in October 2003, launching its field operations in 2004. It is financed through contributions from the Social Fund for Development and support from various social leaders and local foundations. These stakeholders believe that providing financial services, such as savings and loans, can enhance income levels and improve living conditions for targeted groups.
NMF is recognized as the first and largest microfinance foundation in Yemen, distinguishing itself as the only organization in the country conducting field collections. The foundation operates a network of 20 branches and offices, primarily serving rural areas, with a dedicated staff of 160 employees.
In addition to its impactful services, the National Microfinance Foundation has received numerous accolades, including certificates for excellence in financial inclusion, transparency, and microentrepreneurship from prestigious organizations such as the European Award for Microfinance, Microfinance Exchange, and SANABEL.
