I am Gulmira Ualikhanovna TERLIKBAYEVA, mother of a large family, social entrepreneur and member of the Kazakhstan Artisans Union. Since 2009, I have been mastering and developing the Kazakh craft – Quraq. At my workshop we are using modern technologies and equipment to teach women all over the world the patchwork sewing intricacies and zero waste production of the textile products and accessories.
The mission is to create a platform for learning and developing traditional artisans, and promote our craft globally, with high-quality handmade product.
Why us?
● 10 years of experience in mastering the Quraq technique.
● More than 2000 people have been trained and received a profession;
● More than 10 people have launched craft studios in other cities of the country.
● October 2019 - participation as a guest artist / participant of the Smithsonian Institute's program "Kazakhstan: The Soul of Tengri", held at the Smithsonian Craft2Wearise exhibition, in Washington D.C.;
● 2018 - Excellence Authentic Innovative Marketable World Crafts Council (WCC), received the international Quality mark of the World Craft Council. The Award for outstanding achievements in handicrafts, recognition of excellent mastery, and attractive authentic color combination has multi-purpose usage and Performance in traditional patchwork techniques from textiles from different Asian Countries. The jury particularly appreciated the product for the local market
● 2017 - Guest artisan at the annual Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, Abu Dhabi, UAE;
● 2017 - Winner of the Kazakhstan artisans of artisans "Sheber" (Artisan), in the nomination "Asyl ustaz" (Noble teacher) - Mentorship;
● 2017 - participation at the international festival of traditional textiles "Atlas Bayrami" (Celebrating Atlas), Uzbekistan.
● More than 200 women from vulnerable categories of citizens studied - free of charge (recruitment for a full course takes place twice a year).
