Ongoing Offline: The campaign is currently ongoing offline and, thus still in the process of collecting funds.

Summary

The campaign aims to promote a culture of safety and sustainable energy in Beirut.

Challenge

Our data indicates that 15% of damages are related to electrical issues, including lighting fixtures, water heaters, main power cables, phone and data cables, as well as home electrical appliances such as TVs, AC units, electronic devices, and refrigerators.

For instance, Rahaf and Jana are two young sisters who lived in one of the poorest and most affected neighborhoods in Karantina's area. As a result of the explosion, they suffered from a psychological disorder while seeing the destruction in front of them.

On the other hand, Mrs. Eliane living in Geitaoui faced a major issue after the blast and during the spread of the Coronavirus. She couldn't help her children study at home without the need for lighting and electricity to power on the internet.

Solution

The donations will provide solar panels to 5-10 houses in Beirut.

  • A $50 donation will provide power for internet connection to family members working and/or studying from home on a daily basis.
  • A $100 donation will light up a house with four LED bulbs (18W each) with backup power for a period of 10 years.
  • A $150 donation will help a family keep their food supply in a refrigerator safe and healthy during the operation of the solar system.
  • A $200 donation will allow a whole family to enjoy watching a movie while keeping their TV, satellite receiver, DVD, and VCR connected all day long.
