Summary

The campaign aims to provide basic needs to vulnerable children of Internally Displaced People (IDP).

Challenge

The number of street children and vulnerable youth has significantly increased in urban areas over the years. In comparison to previous years, the rise in the number of street children is notable in many cities in Somalia. These children turn to the urban streets in the hope of receiving assistance from more affluent individuals who are employed.

Upon arriving on the streets, they encounter various challenges, including poverty, family breakdowns, the impact of war, physical or emotional abuse, drug abuse, and the loss of parents, leaving them orphaned and without care. They often believe that in urban areas, they can find employment, money, and other essential resources for their survival. Importantly, the issue of street children is not exclusive to the Third World. Hundreds of thousands of children also run away from home and live on the streets in Europe, Canada, and the USA.

The reasons behind this phenomenon extend beyond economic factors; it is a complex issue that is evolving into a widespread problem, urgently requiring attention and intervention.

Solution

Through this project, SOYVDA aims to assist neglected, needy, orphaned, vulnerable, deprived, and destitute children, primarily from IDP camps and various districts in Mogadishu. The organization intends to support these children by covering their school fees, providing shelter, food, clothing, and offering medical attention. SOYVDA is committed to establishing a nurturing and secure family environment that grants children the right to a happy, educated, skilled, and healthy life.

Furthermore, SOYVDA will guide these children through education, counseling, vocational skills training, and spiritual education.
