Summary
The Gaza Group for Culture and Development Association aims to provide food aid to over 6,000 underprivileged families.
Challenge
More than 65% of the Gaza Strip's population, living below the poverty line, suffers from a low level of food security, struggling to meet their minimum daily food needs. Amidst these challenges, our ongoing project, in collaboration with Islamic Relief Worldwide, the Cooperation Foundation, and others, focuses on supporting around 3,500 families of orphans who have lost primary breadwinners. This initiative provides various services, including financial sponsorship, legal advice, psychological support, and emergency relief aid.
Additionally, we have empowered approximately 20 women from these families and others to run a special project, cooking traditional high-quality food.
Some of these projects have received funding from our foundation. However, due to the deteriorating economic situation in the Gaza Strip, these women are facing difficulties in generating the necessary revenue to sustain their projects. The situation is particularly challenging during Ramadan, as family needs increase during this month. This project aims to support women entrepreneurs and, simultaneously, provide breakfast for over 2,000 fasting individuals from impoverished families.
Solution
The holy month of Ramadan is a time of mercy, goodness, and forgiveness. Seizing this golden opportunity, we aim to provide breakfasts to several fasting, impoverished families by purchasing meals from widowed women who are working diligently to create delicious and captivating dishes, serving as their source of livelihood.
Supporting this campaign achieves two objectives: firstly, contributing to providing breakfast for families in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan, and secondly, supporting an income-generating project for widowed women who prepare these meals, enabling them to sustain a livelihood for themselves and their children.
