Campaign Status
Ongoing offline: The campaign is currently ongoing offline, and as a result, the fundraising process continues.
Summary
The campaign aims to collect rainwater and spring water and support saffron cultivation and fish farming in the rural and mountainous areas of Azilal, Morocco. The residents of those areas rely on Agriculture to make their living especially Saffron cultivation. Women depend on Saffron to meet their daily needs.
Challenge
Every year, the women in Azilal wait anxiously for the seasonal cultivation of Saffron to make their ends meet. Shortage of water due to irregular rainfalls is their main challenge. Although it rains and snows in winter, the water is not stored when it is needed in September and October.
Solution
We came up with the idea of the project “أمل | Hope” to collect springs and rainwater in basins. In addition to solving the water storage problem, we will use the cold water in the basins for fish farming, especially trout farming.
Long-Term Impact
Seasonal saffron farming, coupled with the sale of fish, will help women and youth in the rural and mountainous area of Azilal, in particular the Tabrousht and Tilougite communities, to make a living and generate an income all year long. On top of that, the Hope project will help educate children, provide irrigation water, and preserve water resources.
The project aims to:
