From the time of its establishment in 1868, the Turkish Red Crescent, besides contributing to the development of social welfare has been providing, presenting and offering various and important services for social solidarity such as shelter and protection to the poor and needy, aids for nourishment and health care , blood, disaster operations, international aids, social services, health, first aid, education and youth, housing, immigration and refugee protection as well as operating mineral water facilities.

Turkish Red Crescent Society shares the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement which are humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteer service, unity and universality.

The Society is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based social service institution providing unconditional aid and service, and is a corporate body governed by special legal provisions.

The organization is comprised of the general headquarters and branches. The duties and responsibilites undertaken in all levels of the Organization, other than the Headquarters, are honorary.
