Summary

The campaign aims to revive Azerbaijani literature by publishing poems and works by 10 young writers and poets.

Challenge

Classical Azerbaijani literature holds global renown. The works of the great masters, gifted by Azerbaijan to the world, maintain their relevance and beauty even after centuries. Readers worldwide appreciate the spirit and professional handling of events depicted in these exceptional literary creations. Consequently, the anniversaries of poets such as Nizami, Nasimi, Fuzuli, Khagani, Mirza Jalil, Mirza Fatali Akhundov, and other prose writers are celebrated worldwide, with their literary legacies studied by leading international organizations.

Unfortunately, the same high regard cannot be extended to modern Azerbaijani literature. It is important to consider that the conditions for writing and creating during the era of the aforementioned literary figures were challenging. In contrast, today, the Azerbaijani government prioritizes the development of literature, providing significant opportunities for creative individuals in the country. However, the output of modern Azerbaijani literature does not match the level of this attention.

Today, high-level steps have been taken regarding the development of literature in the country.

For example, pearls of world literature are published in Latin script, books by Azerbaijani writers are printed in large circulations, young writers and poets are given scholarships by the state, and care is taken at the state level for their creation of new works. But what is revealed as a result? Is a world-class work being written, which is one of the biggest problems of modern Azerbaijani literature? In recent years, there have been no works at the level that would literally become an event in Azerbaijani literature. The literary community of Azerbaijan is thinking about a question: is it possible to name at least one novel, story, or poem written in Azerbaijan in recent years, so that it arouses great interest in our society? A true master of words, a true writer, should be able to feel the spirit of the time and create works that correspond to it.

Solution

In order to address the problem, the organization will host an event involving the selection of young writers and poets, along with the publication of their poems and works. This initiative will see active participation from the Beylagan branch of the Writers Union, the Beylagan Central Library, Beylagan intellectuals, the Public Council under the Beylagan District Executive Power, as well as various related organizations and individuals. To facilitate this, a conference of young writers and poets will be held in the Beylagan district.

Active participants at the conference will connect with the literary environment within the "Araz Public Union" of the region. Currently, a working group has been formed to coordinate the conference and manage the publication of poems and works by young writers and poets. The working group will carefully select the best submissions and present them at the conference for publication. The participation of 100 young writers and poets is guaranteed, providing them an opportunity to benefit from this project. Among the participants, 35 are women and 65 are men. The selected works of 10 individuals, 5 women, and 5 men, will be published in book form.
