Summary

The campaign aims to implement innovative market gardening and sustainable fish farming practices, enhancing productivity, and significantly improving local food security and economic growth.

Challenge

The COYAH prefecture is characterized by a rural population whose livelihoods depend largely on agriculture and fishing. Unfortunately, the resources and knowledge needed to optimize these activities are often limited. In many rural parts of COYAH, access to quality food is a major challenge. Traditional farming practices are often inefficient and unsustainable, leading to persistent food insecurity.

Solution

Our project aims to implement a series of comprehensive initiatives to support and enhance market gardening and fish farming in the prefecture. Key objectives include introducing innovative farming techniques to improve productivity and sustainability. This involves adopting agroecology principles that utilize natural processes and local resources to create more resilient and environmentally friendly farming systems. We will also incorporate modern irrigation techniques, such as drip and sprinkler systems, to optimize water use and significantly increase market garden yields.

To further support agricultural development, we will establish above-ground ponds with the necessary infrastructure for sustainable fish farming. These ponds will be stocked with high-quality fry and supplemented with nutrient-rich feed to ensure optimal growth and health of the fish. By providing these resources and support, we aim to build a robust aquaculture sector that enhances local food security and stimulates economic growth.
