Building Community ResilienceThe Problem
Due to Turkey’s currency devaluation and COVID-19 restrictions, there has been a decrease in community resilience among women as well as refugee business owners. Turkish, Syrian and Afghan refugees are among the most vulnerable and ignored groups.
The Solution
Innovation for Development (I4D) aims to increase capacity development and create a path to regain sustainable transformation for women as well as refugee-led social businesses and cooperatives through integration to the digital economy via online marketplaces. 10 women and refugee-led commercial actors will be supported to open shops on e-commerce platforms and each of them will be provided with market-oriented and nature-smart product development training. In the process, emphasis will be placed on green transformation and eco-friendly production through the use of recycled or biodegradable materials, use of local resources and prevention of excessive water consumption.
Impact
The project aims to reduce poverty among women and refugee business owners. The project mainly focuses on improving gender equality and economic empowerment. Also, the entrepreneurs will minimize carbon emissions during product development and maximize recycling processes to contribute to sustainable production and consumption patterns.
