Building Community ResilienceThe Problem
Housing units in Saudi Arabia often face challenges with the lack of awareness and literacy on issues related to water, energy, human behaviour, materials and infrastructure. This leads to high capital and operating expenses. Users don't have a platform where they can track collective consumption and receive recommendations on reducing their carbon footprint while improving energy consumption efficiency and optimizing functional operations.
The Solution
The Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF) aims to develop the Green Building Impact, a digital platform for reporting, monitoring and verifying of consumption data by residents of housing units to improve their environmental, social and economic impact. It will provide a register of localized data to establish effective intervention initiatives resulting in improved affordability of housing in Saudi Arabia. The project seeks to benefit users, community leaders, architectural as well as engineering professionals.
Impact
The platform seeks to build resilience in Arab cities, neighbourhoods, and buildings by promoting the greening of housing stock. It would improve the efficiency of residential units, enable decarbonization through the use of sustainable consumption patterns, and contribute towards overall wellbeing and improved quality of life.
