Overview:

Crowdfunding in Africa is a growing market and is a promising way to foster entrepreneurship and innovation across the region. Join us for a thought-provoking session with the movers and shakers in crowdfunding in Africa to learn about the challenges, opportunities and trends.

We’re hosting a conversation with some of the crowdfunding platform leaders in Africa such as M-Chang, an online & mobile fundraising platform, Thundafund, an online crowdfunding marketplace for creatives and innovators, and Backabuddy, a crowdfunding service in South Africa. They’ll showcase their platforms, share tips and tricks for successful campaigns, and give us some insights into the crowdfunding scene at the moment.

As digital and mobile finance expansion, low penetration of traditional financial institutions, and a long cultural heritage of communal mutual support push crowdfunding growth, we’re also seeing challenges related to uptake across the region. Tune in to hear from the African Crowdfunding Association on how they are spearheading some of these issues – from battling unclear regulation, relatively low levels of internet access, and low social trust.

The webinar will be in English (with translation in French and Arabic) and open to the public.
