Education in EmergencyThe Problem
Parents' reduced presence or absence at home and their children's increased exposure to multimedia since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic has put children more at risk of becoming victims of online-based violence. This particularly affects children who frequently use online games and social media. Currently, it is also nearly impossible to prevent children from witnessing various types of media violence.
The Solution
The Me & You Game is a game development workshop for children (with parental consent), which will provide children, aged 8 to 12, with an opportunity to learn about SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 5: Gender Equality. It also provides information on how to integrate SDGs 4 and 5 in daily activities. The objective is to improve children’s abilities and confidence in identifying and preventing violence in various types of circumstances amongst themselves or with others.
Impact
This program aims to promote gender mainstreaming in children's lives through games. It also seeks to promote values of equality, cooperation, acceptance, tolerance, and justice among children.
