Emergency Medical Response through CSOsThe Problem
In Benin, there is a lack of qualified health personnel and the territorial coverage of public as well as private health services is insufficient. The closing of several health centres that did not meet quality standards, though necessary, has only exacerbated the problem. People also face difficulties getting medicines from pharmacies and lack access to various health services (medical transport, medical laboratories, consultations with health professionals, etc.). Covid-19 has exacerbated these pre-existing problems. Those who suffer the most are people with reduced mobility, those who are weakened by age, disability and illness. There is an urgent need to think about new strategies and innovative solutions to respond effectively to the health needs of the population.
The Solution
MEDECINS A DOMICILE - BENIN (MEDOM-BENIN) aims to deploy a medical teleconsulting service, allowing people to benefit from free advice given by health professionals. They will develop a digital platform (mobile and web application) to provide medical consultations, and paramedical and medical care, and above all, to facilitate the purchase and delivery of pharmaceutical products. Thanks to new technologies, our solution will allow us to respond in real time to the needs of the population in terms of home care offers, and to facilitate the acquisition of pharmaceutical products, limiting the need for unnecessary travel.
Impact
MEDOM-BENIN facilitates access to healthcare services for people with reduced mobility, additionally impacted by Covid-19. It implements an innovative technology-based solution to reduce inequalities in access to healthcare.
