Building Community ResilienceThe Problem
There are over 8 million people in Guinea and over 100 million low-income people in rural West Africa who lack access to adequate healthcare. This is mainly due to limited healthcare infrastructure, political instability, and a scarcity of medical professionals. Additionally, health data collection is poor since even though the Guinea Ministry of Health currently uses the DHI2 health information system for countrywide health data, very few records are currently available in the system.
The Solution
Clinic+O is building a technology-enabled primary care network that aims to expand access to quality, affordable health care for low-income communities in West Africa by integrating mobile technology and community health best practices into primary care treatment. Clinic+O also seeks to integrate its systems with the government platform in Guinea to facilitate data collection and eventually enable subsidized healthcare for low-income patients. The intended beneficiaries are poor rural communities, living in mid-Guinea and special attention will be given to improving health conditions for women and children who face the most challenging circumstances related to disease, malnutrition, and maternal health. The goal through this project is to expand healthcare access and services to 10k+ patients by the end of 2022.
Impact
Clinic+O seeks to increase access to quality health care and ensure low mortality rates for preventable and treatable conditions by creating a large network of highly trained Community Health Workers who offer primary care services in rural Guinea. It also aims to reduce the cost of primary care by integrating virtual care, monitoring, rapid testing, and secure health data.
