Stories of Hope: Filantra’s Campaigns Nurture Dreams

Meet Vino, a brave 14-year-old Indonesian with dreams of soaring high through the skies as a pilot. His dreams faced a heartbreaking turn when he lost both his parents to the COVID-19 pandemic on the same day. Left orphaned, Vino found himself living with his grandparents while struggling on his path to pursue his dreams. However, hope dawned when Yayasan Filantra initiated a campaign for children orphaned due to the pandemic, extending a lifeline not only to Vino but to hundreds of orphans across Indonesia facing similar fates.

Filantra joined the Tadamon Crowdfunding Academy in 2021 after being one of the 30 foundations selected to join the Academy. We met Ai Ratih, Filantra’s Head of Marketing and Communication who delved into their crowdfunding success.

Powerful Campaigns with Storytelling

"We learned how to make a powerful campaign," Ratih expressed that the Academy equipped them with mastery of campaign management and the art of storytelling to emotionally engage donors. This newfound skill became their powerful tool for implementing impactful projects, with Ratih emphasizing, "We learned to find the touchy points, the meaningful points to make the audience get empathy for the campaign."

Post-Academy, they applied their newly learned skills to all their campaigns, yielding remarkable results. Within two years they successfully raised an impressive $1,026,302 for over 300 campaigns launched through the LaunchGood ($566,948), Kitabisa ($411,695), Ayobantu ($36,832), and Amalsholeh ($10,777) platforms.

When reflecting on the Academy's impact on their success, Ratih remarked, "The Academy undoubtedly played a significant role in our ability to raise over 1 million dollars. We acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to run successful crowdfunding campaigns, and we have implemented them in all our campaigns since completing the Academy."

Filantra's campaigns left a lasting imprint on the lives of many health-compromised children across Indonesia. Among them, Dek Siti, who, thanks to the campaign funds, received crucial support that facilitated her medical treatment, contributing significantly to her recovery from a tumor. The impact of Filantra's initiatives transcended individual stories, reaching into environmental preservation efforts. Their campaigns played a vital role in clearing tons of rubbish from the Cikapundung River in the West Java Province.

Stories that Unveil Hope

The magic of storytelling unfolded with Vino's story, which struck a chord with donors, inspiring a compassionate Pakistani woman in London to personally sponsor him, nurturing the wings for his aspiring pilot dreams. Filantra's impact radiated beyond Vino, touching the lives of countless orphaned and disabled children. It extends beyond individuals, to environmental preservation, orchestrating river cleanups, lifting tons of waste, and actively contributing to achieving the SDGs.
